In Your Community: Crescent helps School On Wheels Raise Over $41,000
Despite the rain, on Saturday, April 26, School on Wheels of Massachusetts (SOWMA) held its fourth annual Outrunning Homelessness 5K/2.6 Mile Race & Fun Walk. More than 600 registered participants came out to Borderland State Park in Easton to make the event an overwhelming success in raising over $41,000, exceeding its target goal by over $5,000! Money raised by this event will help SOWMA to continue providing academic support and one-on-one tutoring/mentoring to children impacted by homelessness. This year’s event was generously supported by anchor sponsor Crescent Credit Union. With an estimated 44,000 homeless children enrolled in Massachusetts public schools, and an estimated dropout rate of more than 75% among homeless teens, SOWMA has seen dramatic growth in the need for its life-changing services.
